Whānau screenings

28/6/2018

Comments

In April and June we were honoured to be able to share the story of Set In Stone with two wonderful audiences of Herewini's whānau. The first screening was on Anzac Day at the museum of South Taranaki in Patea, which is a small township just a short distance away from Herewini's home town of Waitotara. The second screening in June was organised as part of Puanga by Ngā Rauru iwi in Whanganui for their kaumātua, which was screened in the Embassy3 cinema in Whanganui. Thank you to everyone who helped make these screenings possible. Sharing this story with an audience is always an amazing and emotional experience, especially so when the audience share their whakapapa to it.

Yesterday Set In Stone's producer and director were delighted to be invited to speak with the Probus club of Palmerston North. Everyone enjoyed a presentation featuring clips of the film and an explanaintion about how Set In Stone was conceived, made, and shown to audiences. This was followed by a Q&A and sharing news of the next public screening on Anzac Day in Patea. It is hoped that a group of club members will be able to attend this screening to see the film in full.

Kelburn Normal School special screening

It was fantastic to meet so many aspiring filmmakers, and such a great experience to share Set In Stone with Kelburn Normal School students today.
From a plan hatched during DocEdge last year, a great bunch of about 80 students and teachers have spent the last week in Whanganui. They were camping down at Kai Iwi beach and managed to visit many of the places and landmarks featured in the film, including Pakaitore and the Māori War Memorial.
Super ambassadors for their school and indeed some future filmmakers amongst them, it was our pleasure to be part of their audience and Q&A session.
